New Girl season two TV review

Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel) is positively adorkable -- but that doesn't mean she gets to keep her dream teaching job. Like many Americans, Jess is laid off when season two of this hit series returns. But the usual whip-fast and witty dialogue -- plus roomie Schmidt's identity crisis (involving, well, a penis cast), fire dancing and guest star Parker Posey as a shot girl -- keep the show from being one big downer. -- TV review by Karen Aanonsen
