Rumors have been circulating for several days now about actress Sara Maldonado possibly replacing Kate del Castillo in La Reina del Sur 2, since the latter is not yet oficially attached to the project.
Interestingly enough, Maldonado played an undercover officer in the original series, who died! Whether Telemundo planned to revamp the series and have Maldonado "come back from the dead" or play lead character, "Teresa Mendoza," we’re not sure.
What we CAN tell you is that we reached out to the network’s publicity team who responded to us about the reports.
Gerardo Oyola, manager of Programming Publicity at Telemundo, told Terra: “Nothing about this production has been announced. What you have seen are just rumors circulating in some media outlets [“Aun no se ha anunciado nada de esta produccion. Lo que has visto son solo rumores que estan circulando en algunos medios.”].
