Reality show mogul, Nigel Lythgoe, is adding another job to his list.  This time the International Emmy-winning producer, known for hits such as American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, is taking over cable TV.

In his new series, Opening Act, Nigel along with his A-List Artist Development Team which includes singers Mary J. Blige, Jason Derulo and Pete Wentz, amongst others, will be searching the internet to find the most talented amateur performers.  These "ordinary" people will then be given the chance to open up a show for top music artists such as Nicki Minaj or LMFAO.  The catch?  These people only have a few days to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Here at Terra we got a sneak peek of the show and even spoke to Nigel himself about it.  We really liked Opening Act, not only because of the clever way performers find out they’ve been chosen for the show (let’s just say it reminds us a bit of Candid Camera), but because we also get to see their personal struggles and transformations.

We’ll have more details about Opening Act pronto, but in the meantime don’t miss its premiere tonight (July 9, 2012) at 10pm/9pm central on E!  Will you be watching?  Watch a preview of the show, below…
